ABSTRACT — the aim of this study is to explain types of transitivity process and the effectiveness of transitivity’s components found in Marianna. This fairy tale is analyzed from stylistics approach focusing on transitivity. The narrations and utterances which exist in Marianna is investigated to cover the existence of transitivity processes and to determine their effectiveness’ components; transitivity hypothesis, which is applied by Henry Beston throughout his fairy tale entitled Marianna. The six types of transitivity process and ten parameters determining the effectiveness of transitivity’s components are applied in this fairy tale. The results of this study proves that transitivity plays an important role in the realization of stylistic feature as the language reflection of author’s experiences and high effectiveness of transitivity’s components indicates that mostly the action can completely transferred.
