This study intends to explain forms of magical power in Grimm’s fairy tales and to analyze how those are portrayed in the fairy tales in relation with post-colonialism. Magical power is impossible thing that happens in a real life and actually it still exists until now. Magical realism is a theory to convey a magic in view of reality. It is the part of postcolonialism. To know about postcolonialism, the writer should describe deeper about colonialism itself. So, there is relationship between magical realism and postcolonialism. The data analyzed in this study are taken from the words, phrases or sentences of the character in three Grimm’s fairy tales entitled Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty which relate with magical realism theory. Therefore, the qualitative method is used to analyze in this study. The data are collected by underlining the words, phrases or paragraph that contain magical powers with different color of pen. The model of analyzing data are trying to find the words, phrases or paragraph that contain magical powers and the portrayal of them in Grimm’s fairy tales entitled Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. Fairy tales entitled Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty are stories that contain magical powers. Then, the magical powers which are conveyed in those fairy tales show a portrayal of post-colonialism. Therefore, the results of this study show that forms of magical power got by the characters in Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty story have relationship with postcolonialism.
