This article were intended to discuss the type of refusal strategies in The Help movie, to know the frequently appeared type of refusal strategies applied in this movie. By this articles is the theory proposed by Brown and Levinson(1987).The methodology used in this article is a qualitative research and the writer is the main instrument in collecting data. The source of data is The Help movie script. The data are those utterances uttered by characters in The Help movie. These the data are classified into codes until get the result. After analyzing the movie, it can be concluded that there are 28 data that contain refusal strategies found in the The Help movie. 14 data contain negative politeness,5 data contain positive politeness, and 9 data contain off-record. All of refusal types existed, the frequently appread type in this study is negative politeness strategies. Key Words : Pragmatic, Politeness, Refusal Strategies, The Help.
