The purpose of this study is to find out the functions of Propp’s model that reflected in The Wonderful Wizards of Oz novel and to show the distribution of characters into their respective sphere of actions based on Propp’s morphology in the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel. The writer applies this study with Vladimir Propp’s Morphology theory, and the writer will conduct qualitative research design, because the writer only focused on verbal description narration and utterances through the L. Frank Baum The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel. The writer analyzes the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz using Propp’s morphology, and found that in the story not all the thirty one functions present. The story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz only contains twenty four functions out of thirty one. Those are: Initial situation (?), Absentation (?), Interdiction (?). Violation (?), First function of the donor (D), the hero reaction (E), provision or receipt of a magical agent (F), Lack (a), mediation (B), Branding (J), Guidance (G), Transfiguration (T), beginning counteraction (C), departure (?), recognition (Q), pursuit (Pr), difficult task (M), Reconnaissance (?), struggle (H), Victory (I), rescue (Rs), solution (N), exposure (Ex), wedding (W), return (?). The writer also found that characters distribute to their respective sphere of action, they are: The Hero (Dorothy), The Villain (Wicked Witch of the East, Wicked Witch of West.), The Helper (Guardian of the gate, the Winged monkeys, farmer’s wife and Glinda’s Soldier, The Cowardly Lion, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, the Winkies). The Donor (The Scarecrow, The Tin Woodman, The Cowardly Lion, the Stork, Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, the Winkies, the Queen of mice). The Dispatcher (The good Witch of North). Moreover, in the story the False hero not present, because none of the characters carry the ‘Unfounded claims’(L) functions that indicate the False hero.
