The aim of this article is to explore the use of impoliteness strategies in the movie entitled Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The movie was analyzed from pragmatics approach focusing on impoliteness strategies. The utterances of the characters in the movie is to prove the existence of impoliteness strategies and to find the most frequently appeared type of impoliteness applied by the characters in the movie. The result reveals that the five types of impoliteness strategies are applied; they are bald on record, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, mock impoliteness, and withhold politeness. In addition, positive impoliteness is the most frequently type of impoliteness strategies that are applied by the characters. Furthermore, social factors causing impoliteness applied is also found; they are participant, setting, topic, and function.
