Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran psychological well-being pada ibu yang memiliki anak down syndrome. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Weru Lamongan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus yang ditentukan berdasarkan purposive samplingkriteria ibu yang memiliki anak down syndrome dan berusia 30-65 tahun (mildlife). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode wawancara terhadap 2 subjek dan significant other. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ibu yang memiliki anak down syndrome.Pada dimensi penerimaan diri,subjek 1 dapat menerima anaknya dengan sabar dan iklhas sedangkan subjek 2 merasa minder dan malu tetapi ia dapat menerima keadaan anaknya dengan lapang dada. Dimensi hubungan positif dengan orang lain, keluarga subjek 1 tidak dapat menerima keterbatasan anaknya yang down syndrome dan subjek 2 mendapat hinaan dari lingkungan sosialnya, namun kedua subjek tetap dapat menjalin hubungan baik dengan lingkungan. Dimensi otonomi, kedua subjek mampu bersikap mandiri dan tahan terhadap tekanan sosial. Dimensi penguasaan lingkungan, kedua subjek mengintruksikan saudara maupun lingkungannya untuk memahami keterbatasaan anaknya. Dimensi tujuan hidup, subjek 1 berharap anaknya bisa faham membaca, menulis dan menghitung serta subjek 2 berharap anaknya bisa mandiri dan mengerti. Dimensi pertumbuhan pribadi, kedua subjek berusaha dan bersemangat untuk menambah wawasan seputar down syndrome.
AbstractionThis study aims to reveal the psychological well-being toward parents who have children with down syndrome. The research was conducted in the village of Weru Lamongan using qualitative methods which the case study is determined based on purposive sampling criteria mothers of children with down syndrome and aged 30-65 years (mild-life). The technique of collecting data by using two interviews with the subject and significant other. The results of this study indicate that mothers of children with Down syndrome. On the dimension of self-acceptance, the subject 1 can receive the child patiently and sincere whereas subject 2 feel inferior and ashamed, but she can accept her situation gracefully. Dimensions positive relationships with others, the subject of family 1 cannot accept the limitations of Down syndrome children and subject 2 received insults from their social environment, but both subjects continued to establish good relations with the environment. Dimensions of autonomy, both subjects were able to be independent and resistant to social pressure. Dimensions environmental mastery, both subjects instruct the brothers and their environment to understand their limitedness. Dimensions of the purpose of life, the subject 1 wish their children to the schools of reading, writing and counting as well as the subject 2 independent and hoped his son could understand. Dimensions personal growth, both subjects tried and eager to add insight about Down syndrome.
