    Abstract: This study aims to analyze the grammatical errors in 49 abstracts of some theses are from the first period until the seven periods at English Department of University of Trunojoyo Madura. It discusses two research problems. Those are: (1) what types of grammatical errors appeared in the abstract of theses. (2) which is dominant type of grammatical errors in the abstract of theses?. To accomplish the study, the theory of grammar is used as the underlying theory. In elaborating the specific theory, Grammar in Use by Eugene J Hall (1993) is used in this study. To support the analysis, the theory of noun phrase and verb phrase is used because this study focuses on them.The writer uses qualitative research to design this study. Based on the analysis, it is found that: (1) there are 49 data for grammatical errors in noun phrase and verb phrase. They are 1 error in determiner, 7 errors in cardinal number, 2 errors in pronoun, 9 errors in preposition, 15 errors in subject and verb agreement, 9 errors in verb form, and 6 errors in past tense. (2) Then, the most dominant error is the usage of subject and verb agreement. Key Words : Grammatical Error, Noun Phrase, Verb Phrase
