    Abstraction

    Sarah Gorham’s Salon is one of the contemporary American poems. That poem is focused on many italic lines in that poem. This study uses deconstruction and intertextuality theories to analyze Gorham’s Salon. Based on Derrida’s point of view, this study deconstructs the stable meaning of hair with many italic lines in Salon poem. Then, this study finds the intertextual relationship between the word hair in Salon with the Bible, Hebrew Proverbs, Poe’s poems and Skinner’s poem according to Kristeva’s intertextuality theory. The data analyzed in this study are poems, the Bible, and Hebrew Proverbs, so that, the qualitative method is used in this study accordingly. The data are collected from an interview and the library research. The method of analyzing data use alternatively method. The model of analyzing data is related to Humberman and Mile’s method and also Shih’s triangulation. Having analyzed the data, it is found that the word hair is deconstructed as human reflection. Then, the intertextual relationship of the word hair also reflects to the human reflection according to the Bible, Hebrew Proverbs, Poe’s Alone and The Conqueror Worm, and Skinner’s Elegy with Yellow Boat.
