Abstract: This study is intended to analyze the masters’ domination toward the servant in India and the impacts of the masters’ domination for the servant. This study uses the theory of hegemony which is formulated by Antonio Gramsci and Louis Althusser, they are Gramsci’s cultural and intellectual and Althusser’s ideological and repressive or violence hegemony. Furthermore, this study applies qualitative research design to analyze the data. The result of this study shows that there are four ways of hegemony which are portrayed in the novel, they are; intellectual, cultural, ideological and repressive or violence hegemony. It is reflected in the novel by all figures of the masters, they are; Mr. Ashok, Pinky Madam, Thakur Ramdev and Mukesh Sir. Further, this study also finds some impacts of the masters’ domination toward the servant. The servant experiences the impact of cultural, intellectual, ideological and violence hegemony.
