  • A STUDY OF AMBIGUITY IN THE NEWS TITLE OF POLITICAL ISSUES IN THE JAKARTA POST NEWSPAPER

    Abstraksi

    The study focuses on the ambiguity in the news title of political issues in Jakarta Post Newspaper. Beside that, this study aims to find out what the types of ambiguity in the news title of political issues in Jakarta Post Newspaper. The writer used Diane D. Bornstein theory as the basis of the analysis of the study. Ambiguity is divided into lexical ambiguity and structural ambiguity. The writer used content-analysis. The data were collected by reading and observing the news title in Jakarta Post Newspaper. In analyzing the data, the writer used interactive model analysis. The writer analyzed the data in several steps, they are classifying the data, displaying the data, and drawing conclusion. Based on the analysis, it is found that 15 data include in lexical ambiguity and 7 data belong to structural ambiguity. In addition, the lexical ambiguity appears in the verbs form, while in structural ambiguity only appears in noun phrase that can modify the verb phrase.
