Since the story which contains a theme of hero is very interesting to be discussed, the writer analyzes two of Rick Riordan’s works of The Heroes of Olympus series in this study, those are The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune. The hero stages is a kind of journey which is important to be done to get certain purposes in establishing cultures that usually depicted in literary works. These novels lead to discussion of fear versus love, responsibility versus reality, and powerless versus powerfull, because both demigods characters of the two novels taken their dangerous quest journey to save their community’s life. This study is intend to answer one formulated research problem. Namely, how is Campbell’s hero quest monomyth applied in the novels. The analysis discuss by monomyth. Monomyth theory is aim to find the steps of hero journey which were applied in the novels. This study uses qualitative method; because the key instrument of this study is the writer herself and describes the data in the form of words. Therefore, this study is focused on characters’ utterances and author’s narration that depicted the stages of the heroes in the two novels. Hence the data collection was done simultaneously with the data analysis. After analyzing the novels The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan, it may concludes that all of stages which are suitable with Campbell’s monomyth found in the two novels. Both of novels have the similar common structure stages of plot story. The stages of hero quest myth journey consists of departure, initiations, and return.
