Abstract:The struggle of a teenager who is suffering from schizophrenia, named Deborah Blau in Joanne Greenberg’s I Never Promise You A Rose Garden novel is unique and interesting to be discussed, this study is aimed to give further understanding about the symptoms of schizophrenia, impacts of schizophrenia, and how to recovery from schizophrenia. In this case, this study focuses on the analysis of Deborah Blau’s utterances as the main character, the other characters, and author’s narration in the novel. Psychoanalysis theory is used as the basic theory to analyze the schizophrenia that is aplied in the novel.The nature of this study is qualitative research. The data are the utterances from main character, other characters, and author’s narration that support major character. The data are collected after the writer read for several times and classify on the basic problem. The method of analyzing data are devide into three processes, reducing data, displaying data and making conclusion.The results of the study are found firstly, the symptoms of Deborah Blau’s schizophrenia such as positive symptom, negative symptom and a set symptom. Secondly, the impact of Deborah Blau’s schizophrenia. The impact are, stress on families and societies, and violence and trouble with the law. The last is effort of Deborah Blau’s Family and the doctor to recover her from schizophrenia. The recoveries are, individual psychoteraphy, cognitive behavior therapy, and the last one is social skill training. Keyword: Psychoanalysis, Schizophrenia
