Abstract: Love is a feeling that involves in human life. It is the way to communicate well, care another people and feel happiness. In regard love, literature takes love in its genre, romance. One of romance literary work is The Ranch by Danielle Steel. This study chooses The Ranch as source of data and uses love theory from Sternberg which appropriates to be used. This study analyzes kinds of love and the effects of love in love relation between characters. The qualitative research is used as long as the data is written text. The study finds four of eight kinds of love that involve in love relation between Mary Stuart and Bill Walker, Tanya Thomas and Tony Goldman and Zoe Philip and Sam Warner. Those are empty, romantic, fatuous and consummate love. This study also finds some effects from their love relation such as infidelity and bad relationship. Keywords: love, relation, effect
