Advisor Iqbal Nurul Azhar. S.S., M.Hum This study is focused on figure of speech used in Nick Vujicic’s speech. It aims to analyze the types of figures of speech and the functions of figure of speech in Nick Vujicic’s speech. The data are analyzed and classified based on the types of figure of speech which is proposed by Perrine and the functions of figure of speech by searle. This study uses descriptive qualitative design. The source of the data is the motivator Nick Vujicic, while the data are the utterances of the Nick Vujicic that contain figure of speech. The method that is used to collect the data is content analysis. The writer found nine types of figure of speech in Nick Vujicic utterances. There are 33 data which are 3 data belong to metaphor, 3 data belong to simile, 8 data belong to personification, 5 data belong to apostrophe, 1 data belongs to metonymy, 2 data belong to synecdoche, 3 data belong to symbol, 3 data belong to hyperbole, and 5 data belong to paradox. There are also three functions of their figure of speech that are found in this study. They are representative, expressive, and directive.
