Abstract: Since the friendship between Rosie and Alex in Cecelia Ahern’s Where Rainbows End or Love, Rosie are unique and interesting to be discussed, this study is aimed to give further understanding about the types of friendship and factors that influence the existence of friendship. In this case, this study focuses on the analysis of Rosie and Alex’s utterances as the main characters and the other characters in the novel. Psychology and literature especially theory of friendship is used as the basic theory to analyze the friendship in the novel. The nature of this study is qualitative research. The data are the utterances from the main characters and other characters that support major characters. The data are collected after the writer read for several times and classify on the basis problem. The method of analyzing data are divided into three processes, those are data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of the study are found firstly, the types of friendship between Rosie and Alex are based on goodness because of some attributes such as, caring, giving with no return, and long lasting. Rosie and Alex shows all these attributes that indicate their friendship are based on goodness. Secondly, the factors that influence the existence of their friendship are also found in this study. The factors are, proximity, familiarity, similarity, complementary, and the last one is reciprocity. Key words: Psychology, Friendship, Kind of Friendship.
