Abstract : the objectives of this study are: (1) to describe that Madurese language has its third person singular pronouns, and (2) to describe how Madurese people use the third person singular pronouns. The design of this study is descriptive qualitative. The sources of data of this research were divided into two. The first type of sources were four books and one magazine written in Madurese language. The titles of the books are (1) Siman ban Simin by Sastrodiwirjo, (2) Seri Bahasa Madura Lancar Maca written by Patmodiwirjo, (3) Ma’on so Mu’in written by Patmodiwirjo, and (4) Buletin Konkonan Pamerte Basa Madura, (5) Jokotole magazine. The second type of sources were ten Madurese informants who had been interviewed during the research. They were all Madurese and live in Sumenep, and they could speak and write Madurese language fluently. The writer chooses: (1) content analysis as the method to collect the data from books, and (2) interview to collect the data from the informants. From the written data, the writer found out that Madurese people use six strategies to cope with the lack of the third person singular pronoun. The strategies are as follows; (1) using salèrana, (2) using aruwa, (3) using ghânèko, (4) using jârèya, (5) using abâ’na, and (6) repeating the subjects.
