    Abstraksi

    Suzanne Collins’s Catching Fire is a novel which shows the President domination over the citizen in its story. This novel describes how the President ways to dominate the citizen. The President’s dominates the citizen through two ways, leadership and violence. Relating to this, two research questions are set in this study. There are: how are the domination of President Snow describes in the novel and how are the effects of the domination of President Snow to the main characters and everyone in the districts elaborated in the novel. Then, hegemony theory is used to analyze the novel. In this theory, it is explained how the ways someone dominate others. There are two forms of domination in hegemony theory, they are leadership and violence. Form of leadership is based on Antonio Gramsci’s theory. Meanwhile, form of violence is based on Louis Althusser’s theory. To conduct this study, the qualitative research is used to observe the data into the form of words. Finally, after analyzing this novel, it can be concluded: the power of leadership and violence in Suzanne Collins’s Catching Fire is clarified by President Snow. The power of leadership and violence are shown by President Snow both. There are some effects arise that feel by the main character and everyone in the districts because President domination. They are starvation, nighmare, rebellion, fall in love, etc.
