Advisor: (I) Imron Wakhid Harits, S.S, M.Pd., (II) Erika Citra H, S.S, M.Hum. War gives many bad effects for human live or world life. One of effects of war is trauma. Trauma of war will affect the subjects of war, they are soldiers. Bad experiences during the war can lead individual to have psychological disorder. Mockingjay is one of example of the novels which depicts about traumatic experiences in war. Therefore, this study is intended to discuss about: (1) the cause of the four characters (Katniss, Peeta, Finncik, Johanna) that get traumatic of war, (2) the effect of traumatic events for the characters in the novel, and (3) the ways of the four characters overcome their trauma. To analyze deeply about the trauma of war in this novel, the writer applies psychological theories. In addition, Herman’s psychological trauma is used to get understanding about the trauma of war in Mockingjay. This theory has big influence in analyzing the novel because it covers all of the objectives of study. In addition, this study uses qualitative research design as the research methodology. Through the qualitative research, the narration and the utterances of four character that have relation with the statement of problems. In addition, the writer is the key instrument in the research. Hence, the data are analyzed and collected simultaneously with some processes reducing data, displaying, and making conclusion. The result of the research in the novel, trauma of war occurs in four characters, they are Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, and Johanna. They experience trauma after they have joined the Hunger Games and Revolutionary war. Although they have same causes of trauma by joining the combat, each characters has different causes of trauma in war. For example, Katniss has to lose her young sister and be threatened by President Snow , Peeta has to be tortured by Capitol, Finnick has to lose his lover and his life, Johanna has to be tortured by Capitol. Then, the effects of trauma of four character import into three main categories in symptoms in PTSD, those are hyperarousal, intrusion, and constriction. In addition, Mockingjay also depicts how the four characters overcome the trauma with using same stages of recovery with Herman’s strategies, those are establishing safety, remembrance and mourning, and reconnection.
