This study concerned poetic devices in the poems entitled Song (when I’m dead my dearest) and Remember by Christina Rossetti such as imagery, symbol, metaphor and irony by using new criticism theory. Moreover, this study uses new criticism theory in Louis Tyson’s book. Death is the main theme and the supporting theme is love. There are five messages (1) Since the death is inevitable, we should be sincere to let someone or the loved one dead, (2) As the one who are left living, we should not sinking deep down and mourning the death one, (3) We must keep in mind that whoever has passed that wishing us not to feel sad, whether family member, friend or lover, (4) Do not mark death with grieve because it is one of the circle of life and life must go on, (5) If the memories is too hard and make us sad, we should remember the happy memories of him/her so we can move on.
