Abstract: One For The Money is a novel written by American writers, Janet Evanovich. This novel describes Joe Morelly as the main character who suffers from histrionic personality disorder. This novel is interesting to be discussed because the main character is portrayed to have abnormal behavior. The purpose of the study is to describe the traits, the causes and the effects of histrionic personality disorder experienced by Joe Morelly. To support this study, the writer uses Psychology and Literature, Personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder as theories. To get clear analysis, this study uses qualitative research design in analyzing the data. The source of data is a novel by American writer entitled One for The Money. The writer is the key instrument and the data are described in the form of words. The data are in the form of utterances of the characters and explanation of the narrator. There are three processes in method of analyzing data; data reduction, data display and drawing the conclusion. After analyzing the novel, the results of the study are: (1) The traits of Joe Morelly histrionic personality disorder are Joe Morelly is seductive person,dramatic and emotional person. (2) The causes of Joe Morelly histrionic personality disorder are: (a) Biological Influences, Joe Morelly suffers from histrionic personality disorder because his father also suffers histrionic personality disorder. (b) Psychological Influences, Joe Morelly feels stress and oppressed, because his bad experience. (c) Social influences. The bad family condition and bad society also influences Joe Morelly.(3) The effect of Joe Morelly histrionic personality disorder is that he has impairment in his relationship with Stephanie, society and in his work relation.
