Advisors:(I) Dr. Masduki. M.Pd., (II) RosyidaEkawati, S.S., MA. This study is concerned with the phenomenon of register in printed media that is Elle fashion magazine. This study is intended toexplain; (1) the register in Elle fashion magazine.(2)the reasons why the register is used in Elle fashion magazine. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. The method of collecting the data the writer uses content-analysis method. The steps to analyze the data the writer uses interactive model analysis that is reducing, classifying, displaying, and drawing the conclusion. Based on the data analysis that has been done, it is found that there are 27 registers found in Elle fashion magazine. The reasons of using registers are various. The first reason is the similarity of the shape, the second is the similarity of the function, the third is the similarity of the characteristic, the fourth is from the similarity of the pattern and the next is the similarity of the history.
