  • Jean Baptiste’s Antisocial Personality Disorder in Patrick Suskind’s Perfume

    Abstraksi

    This study focuses on Antisocial Personality Disorder which is suffered by Jean Baptiste as the main character. Antisocial Personality Disorder is one of interesting topic to be analyzed. This Study explains about the characteristics and the causes of Jean Baptiste’s Antisocial Personality Disorder. This study is conducted using qualitative design. The source of data is novel entitled Perfume by Patrick Suskind to analyze. The data was obtained from author’s narration and the utterances of the main character. The key instrument of this study is the writer herself. In addition, this study uses data analysis contains three sub process; data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. After analyzing this novel, it can be found the characteristics of antisocial personality disorder that is suffered Jean Baptiste. They are inadequately motivation antisocial behavior, the absence of a conscience and sense of responsibility to other, and emotional poverty. Moreover, the causes are biological factor, psychological, and environmental factors.
