This study, entitled Gemma’s Personality related to her magical gift in Libba Bray’s A Great and Terrible Beauty, intends to analyze personality of the major character by using Sigmund Freud’s theory of personality which is a apart of psychoanalytic theory. Gemma is chosen to be analyzed based on personality point of view. This study focuses on the structure of personality base on three part of personality; the id, the ego, and superego and the dynamic personality discusses about anxiety. Moreover, this study is conducted by using a qualitative design, the writer is the key instrument and the data are described in the form of words. The data of this study are the utterances of the characters and the narrations of the author in Libba Bray’s A Great and Terrible Beauty. Hence, the data collection was done simultaneously with the data analysis. The result of this study, in structure of personality the id is a Gemma’s supernatural power, the ego is Gemma, and the superego is the advices and suggestions from other characters such as Kartik, Gemma’s mother, and the man who has already died. Dynamic of personality Gemma’s anxiety is appeared because of conflict between id, ego, superego.
