This study is purposed to explain the characteristics of wordplays in the panel show TV comedy program Was It Something I Said?. This study also explains the functions of wordplays in the panel show TV comedy program Was It Something I Said?. This study uses Delabastita’s categorization of wordplay to analyze wordplay in the panel show TV comedy program Was It Something I Said?. This study uses qualitative approach. The source of data is the videos of the panel show TV comedy program Was It Something I Said?. While, the data are the humor utterances in the conversation in the panel show TV comedy program Was It Something I Said?. The research instrument of this study is the writer. The method of collecting data is content analysis. The data is analyzed by applying interactive model analysis. The conclusions of this study are: (1) the types of wordplay in the panel show TV comedy program Was It Something I Said? are phonological and graphological structure, lexical structure (polysemy), lexical structure (idiom), and morphological structure; (2) the function of wordplay is to create some amusement, a smile, or even laughter to the audiences, to attract the audience’s attention, to give the audience the pleasure of understanding of wordplay, and to create the atmosphere of common knowledge.
