PT. X merupakan salah perusahaan manufaktur yang bergerak dibidang industri rokok yang mempunyai tiga lini produksi atau tiga devisi dan memiliki satu penyimpanan produk jadi yang nantinya dari tiga lini produksi akan disimpan dalam satu gudang. Dalam pengamatan yang dilakukan dalam penempatan produk jadi digudang masih belum teratur atau masih kurang rapi dalam melakukan penyusunan produk, sehingga hal seperti ini menyebabkan ketidak efektifan waktu dalam pengambilan produk di suatu area gudang dan menyulitkan pekerja, kepala gudang dalam melakukan pengecekan barang yang akan dikirim kepada pelanggan. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh perusahaan PT. X saat ini adalah ketidak teraturan dalam penyusunan produk, hal ini akan menghambat waktu proses proses pengiriman, allowance forklift yang terlalu melebar sehingga pemanfaatan ruang menjadi kurang efektif dan ada beberapa gang yang tidak sesuai dengan ukuran material handling sehingga menyulitkan operator forklift dalam melakukan proses pengambilan produk jadi dalam gudang. Kondisi lain juga terdapat pada penempatan produk dalam suatu area yang kurang tepat, dimana seharusnya barang yang memiliki frekuensi pengiriman terbanyak dan yang sering keluar-masuk di dekatkan dengan pintu keluar. Hal seperti ini yang sering menyebabkan material handling lebih jauh dan kurang efektif. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan usulan perbaikan tata letak gudang produk jadi yang lebih efektif terhadap pemindahan material handling. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengelolaan pergudangan adalah pendekatan shared storage dimana produk yang memiliki frekuensi pengiriman terbanyak dan yang sering keluar masuk didekatkan dengan pintu masuk untuk meminimalisasi jarak perpindahan material handling.Hasil dari pendekatan shared storage dapat meminimalisasi jarak tempuh material handling rata-rata per bulan adalah 1202,4 m sedangkan konsisi sebelumnya jarak tata letak awal adalah 1720.8 m/bulan.

PT. X is one of manufacturing company that concerns in cigarettes industrial side that has three line productions or three divisions and a product storage so the three divisions will be safe together in one storeroom. In the study of product placement the storeroom is messy in the product arrangement, therefore, that case makes the lack of time effectiveness in conducting the product in one storeroom area and make difficulty the worker, the head of storeroom in do the checking of the things that will be sent to the consumer. The problem that faced by the company PT.X this day is irregularity in arrangement of the product, this case will obstruct the time sending processes, allowance forklift that too wide so that the used of room becomes less of effective and there are several alleyway that is not appropriate with the handling of material size therefore it complicates forklift operator in doing the taking process of ready product in the storeroom. In others condition, there is a product placement in one area that is less precise where the things should have the most sent frequencies and in and out things that closed with exit door. It makes material handling is farer and less of effective. The aim of this study is to contribute the proposed improvement the storeroom layout, the ready product that is effective to the material handling replacement. The method that is used in warehousing management is the close shared storage where the product has the most sent frequency and in and out near with the entry door to minimize the moving distance of material handling. The result from the shared storage approach can minimize the mileage of the material handling average in every month is 1202,4 m, meanwhile in the previous condition the average of starting layout is 1720.8 m in every month.
