Sharon Creech’s The Wanderer is one of literary works that consists of conflicts, either internal or external conflicts experienced by the main character. This study is focused on the utterances that reveal the causes and effects of internal and external conflicts experienced by the main character, Shopie. Concerning with this matters, the intrinsic approach is used to analyze intrinsic elements, which is conflict. This is a qualitative study , the charecteristic of this study are: (1) the data that are analyzes and interpreted are not manipulated. (2) the data which is described and analyzed are in the form of words, e.g. the utterances in the novel. (3) the key instrument is the writer. In line with the features of qualitative research, the data collection is done simultaneously with the data analysis. There are three related to processes in the data analysis; reducing data, displaying data and making conclusion. To get more accurate information of certain perception about conflicts in the novel, a consultation with the advisers was done. Having conducted analysis of the conflicts it can be concluded that Sharoon Creech’s The Wanderer, there are two kinds of conlfict, internal and external conlictf experinced by Shopie. The internal conflict is caused by her desire to join in a journey to the sea and the conflict toword Shopie herself arise effect ambition to do a journey to the sea. Meanwhile, exernal conflict is caused by shopie’s mother disallow Shopie to do a journey to the sea and Brian and Frenk understimate shopie and the last is the bad weather which is the must they going across during the journey. And the effects of the Shopie’s conflicts is Shopie become a stubborn girl, shopie determine to be a better person and shopie feels that she feels connected to the sea.
