Advisors: (I) Suci Suryani, S.S., M.Pd. (II) Imron Wakhid Harits, S.S., M.Pd. This study concerns on psychology on literature mainly on basic needs theory by Maslow. Basic needs theory support human to fulfill their needs step by step based on hierarchy of needs. The steps of hierarchy of consist of physiological needs, safety needs, love needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs. These needs existed on Death of a Salesman drama by Athur Miller. Because of this reason, the drama is interesting to be analyzed under the title Willy’s Basic Needs in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. The aim of this study is helping the student of English Study Program to understand Maslow’s basic needs theory with the result that the student can apply the basic needs approach to analyze literary works. This study includes in qualitative research method because it fulfills the characteristics and the features of qualitative research methodology such as, the data are the author’ narrations and the character’s utterances rather than the number form, and the researcher is the key instrument. The author’s narration and the character’s utterances describe that basic needs theory fulfills step by step. After analyzing the drama, the conclusions of this study is basic needs support human in this case the main character, Willy, to fulfill Willy’s needs step by step based on hierarchy of needs. Willy’s hierarchy of needs such as Willy’s physiological needs, Willy’s safety needs, Willy’s love needs, Willy’s esteem needs, and Willy’s self-actualization needs.
